About

The only regional meeting focusing on fungal and parasitic infections, MNID is an excellent opportunity for the Midwest mycology and parasitology community to meet in a relatively small group and learn from each other, fostering collaboration, highlighting emerging science, and building community around a set of diseases that remain under-resourced despite their global impact. For questions about the meeting, please reach out to the organizers at mnidmeeting[at]gmail.com.

History and Past Meetings

MNID was launched in 2011 to provide a much-needed conference in the Midwest for researchers in the fields of pathogenic parasites and fungi. Its kick-off was made possible through generous support by the Burroughs Wellcome Fund and hosted by the Boler-Parseghian Center for Rare and Neglected Diseases at the University of Notre Dame. The original steering committee was drawn from five states: Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio. MNID has spawned ‘clones’ for similar regional meetings on eukaryotic pathogens across the country, providing strong testimony for its value and need across our communities.
